JAMES ALMARAZ, O.D. (New Doctor and Owner of Old Town Optometry) Dr. Almaraz, a long time successful optometrist in Big Bear Lake, California, is now bringing the same "small town" personal care to his patients at Old Town Optometry in La Quinta. Along with the very talented Old Town Optometry staff, and the kind referrals of his "new" patients, he wants to create the most successful practice in La Quinta's history! As a licensed optometrist, Dr. Almaraz provides eye exams, diagnoses and treats many disorders that affect the eye or vision. In addition to training in eye diseases and disorders, Dr. Almaraz is also trained in anatomy, biochemistry, and physiology. With this background, Dr. Almaraz is experienced to recognize a range of health issues; such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes, and hypertension. Dr. Almaraz is a graduate of the Southern California College of Optometry and attends several continuing education seminars to stay current on the latest advances in eye health, vision care and contact lenses. Dr. Almaraz is married and has two children living in San Diego. He enjoys golf, reading, woodworking, wine tasting, cooking and cycling. He is currently an Advisory Board Member to the NVision Laser Eye Center and the secretary of the Big Bear Cycling Association. Wave if you see him riding around the Valley!

Dr. Almaraz has practiced Optometry for more than 35 years. He had Optometry offices in the Los Angeles area prior to relocating to the Coachella Valley 12 years ago. He opened Old Town Optometry in La Quinta 5 years ago as a family practice that strives to give the best in patient care and provides a wide assortment of frames and lenses to cover every individual's needs.

Your comprehensive exam includes Glaucoma and Visual Field testing. Retinal Imaging machinery was added to the practice in September 2007.
