Maureen Nunn is to speak at our 4th of July Celebration

The Kenneth T. Norris, Jr. Heritage of Freedom Award is bestowed each year on an individual who has made a significant national or international contribution to freedom. The Kenneth T. Norris, Jr. Foundation gives continuing proof to the fact that many of America's great institutions have been created by philanthropic activity.

This year’s Norris Heritage of Freedom honoree Maureen Nunn insists that she is an ordinary person who has had extraordinary opportunities. She has made philanthropy her full-time job and has dedicated her life to helping others. Nunn, the mother of five grown children, has penned the best-selling book, “Got Kids?,” a how-to guide on raising successful and happy children.

She also formerly taught Spanish to children in Los Angeles and Palos Verdes. She conceived and hosted award- winning local television shows “Everyday Heroes,” and “Comunidad Latina.” Today, her long line of volunteer duties include working as a counselor at Community’s Child and Harbor Interfaith where she teaches parenting workshops and English to second language-speaking students.
She also serves as a certified drug and alcohol counselor. In addition, she travels to Uganda for up to eight weeks annually to help in schools, villages, churches, and hospitals. She teaches life skills to the poorest of the poor. Maureen frequently volunteers at Camp Pendleton, leading seminars on healthy relationships and preventing domestic violence, to assisting Wounded Warriors with the transition back into civilian life.
